Seeking God #1

7 "Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who searches finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
9 What man among you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?
10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?
11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! -- Matthew 7:7-11 HCSB

• These are the words of Jesus, recorded by His apostle Matthew, telling us a great promise of God.
• God is a loving Father.
• God wants you to find Him.

• The following verses about "Seeking God" are in the same context of Scripture, and is important to tell us how we should seek:

13 "Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who go through it.

14 How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it.

• If only a few find eternal life, which is finding God, then only a few are actually seeking God.
• How must we seek God?

33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. -- Matthew 6:33 HCSB

• Again, Jesus preaching His famous sermon, giving us another great promise.
• What sorts of things "get in the way" of us making God (His kingdom and His righteousness) our top priority?
• Jeremiah 29:11-12 is another great promise that we will find God when we seek God with all our heart.
